Spinal Chord Stimulation

Rany Abdallah MD, PhD, MBA just announced a pain management first in Delaware.

Today he implanted one of the most technologically advanced spinal cord stimulation devices available to pain management physicians. This new medical device is designed to help relieve patients’ pain symptoms through a minimally invasive procedure in which Dr. Abdallah implants the device. It then sends intermittent “bursts” of wave energy that stimulates specific nerves to relieve the patient’s pain.

The FDA approved the new device called the Abbott Eterna™ spinal cord stimulation (SCS) system in December of 2022. It’s the smallest, rechargeable spinal cord stimulator currently available to treat chronic pain. The Eterna SCS unique waveform is proven to reduce pain 23% more than traditional approaches.

Based on extensive studies with patients and physicians to better understand chronic pain sufferers’ most pressing needs , they found patients desired a smaller more comfortable implant and, at the same time, sought a way to reduce having to charge the device frequently. Abbott designed Eterna to be recharged less than five times a year, rather than daily or weekly.

Call APICO Pain Management™ today at 855-932-7426 and set an appointment to ask Dr. Abdallah if the Eterna Spinal Cord Stimulator could help you manage your chronic pain.

At APICO Pain Management™, we treat our patients like family.
