01The treatment

What Is It?

Coccyx pain, or coccydynia, can follow a fall, prolonged sitting, childbirth, repetitive pressure, or develop without a clear injury. Pain is usually centered at the tailbone and is often worse when sitting or transitioning from sitting to standing.

02How it works

How Can It Help?

Treatment begins with activity modification, seating changes, rehabilitation, and medication when appropriate. For persistent pain, image-guided injections around the coccyx or related structures, including the ganglion impar, may be considered.

What Can Patients Expect?

The treatment plan depends on examination and imaging when indicated. The goal is to reduce pain enough to restore comfortable sitting and normal activity.
