Restorative Neurostimulation (ReActiv8)

What Is It?
ReActiv8 is a restorative neurostimulation therapy for carefully selected patients with chronic mechanical low back pain associated with impaired control or function of the multifidus muscles. Unlike therapies designed primarily to cover pain with stimulation, restorative neurostimulation is intended to activate the medial branch of the dorsal ramus to produce repeated multifidus contractions.
How Can It Help?
Repeated stimulation is designed to help restore neuromuscular control and stability over time. Patient selection differs from spinal cord stimulation and from facet radiofrequency ablation, so evaluation focuses on the pattern of mechanical low back pain, functional impairment, examination, imaging, and previous treatment.
What Can Patients Expect?
The system is implanted and programmed for scheduled therapy sessions. Improvement is generally expected to develop progressively rather than immediately, because the treatment is intended to support restoration over time.
