Celiac Plexus & Splanchnic Nerve Blocks

01The treatment
What Is It?
The celiac plexus and splanchnic nerves carry pain signals from many upper abdominal organs. Targeted blocks can be considered for selected severe visceral abdominal pain, including some cancer-related pain syndromes.
02How it works
How Can It Help?
Imaging guidance is used to place medication near the targeted nerves or plexus. Depending on the diagnosis and goals, a diagnostic block or longer-lasting neurolytic strategy may be discussed.

What Can Patients Expect?
These procedures require careful selection because abdominal pain can have many causes. They are typically coordinated with the patient’s broader medical, gastrointestinal, surgical, or oncology care.
