01The treatment

What Is It?

Nerves such as the ilioinguinal, iliohypogastric, genitofemoral, and pudendal nerves can become irritated or injured after surgery, hernia repair, trauma, entrapment, or other pelvic conditions. Pain may be burning, sharp, sensitive to touch, or aggravated by sitting and movement.

02How it works

How Can It Help?

Targeted nerve blocks use ultrasound or other image guidance to place medication around the suspected nerve. The block may provide relief and can help confirm whether that nerve is responsible for the pain pattern.

What Can Patients Expect?

If a block is helpful but temporary, options may include rehabilitation, repeat treatment, radiofrequency techniques in selected cases, or peripheral nerve stimulation.
