01The treatment

What Is It?

The sacroiliac (SI) joints connect the pelvis to the lower spine. They can become painful after injury, pregnancy, altered biomechanics, arthritis, or spine fusion. SI joint pain is often felt in the low back, buttock, or upper leg and can mimic other spinal conditions.

02How it works

How Can It Help?

An image-guided SI joint injection can place local anesthetic and anti-inflammatory medication directly into the joint. Diagnostic injections can also help confirm whether the SI joint is a significant source of pain.

What Can Patients Expect?

The response to an SI joint injection may guide decisions about rehabilitation, radiofrequency procedures, or minimally invasive SI joint fusion in appropriately selected patients.
