Cancer & Treatment-Related Pain Procedures

What Is It?
Cancer pain may arise from tumor involvement, bone disease, nerve compression, surgery, radiation, chemotherapy, or treatment-related nerve injury. Because more than one pain mechanism can occur at the same time, treatment is highly individualized.
How Can It Help?
Interventional options may include peripheral nerve blocks, plexus or sympathetic blocks, regional procedures, neuromodulation, or intrathecal drug delivery in selected patients. These treatments are designed to complement—not replace—oncology and palliative care.
What Can Patients Expect?
The appropriate procedure depends on the cancer diagnosis, anatomy, blood counts and medications, overall health, prognosis, treatment plan, and the patient’s goals. Coordination with oncology is essential.
