Regenerative Medicine & Orthobiologics (PRP, BMAC & Fat Aspirate)

What Is It?
Orthobiologic treatments use autologous materials obtained from the patient with the goal of supporting the body’s biologic healing environment. At Apico Pain and Wellness, this category includes platelet-rich plasma (PRP) and planned bone marrow aspirate concentrate (BMAC) and fat aspirate-based treatments for selected musculoskeletal conditions.
How Can It Help?
PRP concentrates platelets and growth-factor-containing components from the patient’s blood. BMAC is prepared from bone marrow aspirate, while fat aspirate approaches use autologous adipose tissue. The evidence, regulatory considerations, and appropriate indications differ by product and condition, so these treatments require careful counseling.
What Can Patients Expect?
Orthobiologics should not be presented as guaranteed “stem cell cures” or as proven to regrow an entire damaged joint. Patients should understand the evidence, alternatives, expected recovery, cost and insurance considerations, and the uncertainty associated with some applications.
